Terms of use

Verenu is free, open-source dictation software for Windows and macOS, distributed under the MIT license. There is no Verenu account, no subscription, and no Verenu-hosted transcription or cleanup backend. You configure your own API key with a third-party provider (Groq, OpenAI, Google, or AssemblyAI), and the app sends requests directly from your device to that provider using your key.

Verenu itself is not sold and this site does not process payments. There is nothing to refund. Any cost you incur is billed directly by the AI provider you choose to use, under that provider's own pricing and terms, not Verenu's.

The app and this site's source are published on GitHub under the MIT license. That license, not this page, governs your rights to use, modify, and redistribute the code. If anything here conflicts with the license text in the repository, the license controls.

Verenu cannot see, store, or control what happens to audio or text once it reaches a provider you configured. You are responsible for complying with that provider's terms and for any account, billing, or data-handling issues on their side. See the Privacy page for exactly what data goes where.

Verenu is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. It is under active development and may contain bugs, may misrecognize speech, may lose unsaved input, or may behave unexpectedly on a given system configuration. Do not rely on it for safety-critical or otherwise high-stakes transcription without independently verifying the output.

Don't use Verenu to violate applicable law, to record audio without the legal right to do so (including consent requirements that apply in your jurisdiction for recording other people), or to attempt to disrupt the infrastructure that serves this site or the app's release metadata.

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, to the extent your local law permits that choice. If you are outside Canada, mandatory consumer-protection or privacy laws in your own jurisdiction may still apply and are not overridden by this page.

This page may change as the product changes. Material changes will update the date above.
